The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, March 15, 1878

The City Marshall and policemen have presented Mayor Flourney with a gold headed cane. On the cane Mr. E. M. Howes engraved the words: “Presented to J. J. Flourney by the Marshall and Night Police, 1878.” The Marshall made a neat speech in presenting the testimonial, and the Mayor rephed in his usual felicitous manner.
