The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, February 4, 1876

Amputation – Miss Alva Sadler, the 16 year old daughter of Robert Sadler, a farmer living near Delmar, suffered the amputation of her foot on Monday, under the advice of her physicians, Drs. Van Sant and Sloan, of Charlotte on account of scrofvlous complaint. The young lady is doing comfortably. She has been unable to walk for two years previously.
