THE NURSERY OF ENNIS & PATTON

One day this week, we visited the nursery of Ennis & Patton, situated about a half mile west of Lyons. We found everybody head over ears in business. The whole farm looked like a human bee-hive. Men were digging up trees, shrubbery, evergreens, plants, &c, other men were packing them in big boxes, and other still with teams, were hauling them off to be shipped. Orders had come in upon that concern, vastly more extensive than ever before. The Doctor (Ennis) thought this year he would give the printers ink method of bringing business, a good fair test, and the result is all the business he can possibly do. Indeed if it were not for the backwardness of the season, it would have been impossible for him to have filled orders absolutely necessary to be filled at a certain time. He expects now to be able to attend to all the orders on hand, though they were accumulating quite rapidly. Yet no one need hesitate to send in orders, as this enterprising firm will find some way not to disappoint there patrons.

These gentlemen this season will transfer a portion of their Stock, to a point between this city and Lyons, so as to be nearer shipping facilities, and at the same time so as to accommodate the local trade in small plants and hot house production.
