Died at the Age of 102

He latest centenarian to attract attention is the colored woman whose name is Mrs. Bugg and her history is an interesting one. She first saw the light of day on a plantation in Kentucky. In her girlhood she was married to Bugg, who later, in some manner, secured his freedom, leaving his young wife and two little daughters on the plantation. However, Bugg did not forget his loved ones and as soon as he had his freedom commenced to work in order to secure money with which he would purchase the freedom of his wife and two children. He toiled for several years, which the same object always in view, denying himself many of the necessities of life that he may accumulate money as rapidly as possible. Finally he had the amount agreed upon, $700, and he purchased his wife. The two went to work then to earn money to buy their children, and happy were they when their father returned to the planation and bought the freedom of his two daughters, paying $800 for their liberty. They came here in 1859. Thirty years ago Budd died and since then his widow has lived with a daughter.
