Work is progressing finely on the Clinton and Illinois high bridge, as large corps of men being employed both at the shops of the bridge company and at the stone yards at the foot of Eighth Avenue. The workmen find considerable difficulty in keeping the channel between the west shore and the first pier clear of ice formations, as this would prevent running the large barge which is used to convey stone from the shore to the first pier. Several carloads of stone arrived yesterday, and with this favorable weather the work is being bustled right along by the gentlemen having it in charge.
