A Leak in a Gas Main Causes
a Disastrous Accident
at Clinton

Clinton, Ia. March 1st. – George N. Dayton, Daniel Maltby and George Mitchell, boys ranging in age from 12 through 16, entered the basement of a vacant house this afternoon, and, detecting the order of gas, lighted a match to locate the leak, an explosion followed and all of the boys were seriously burned, the house was blown to pieces. It was a story and one half frame structure. The explosion broke windows in nearby houses.
