From the book "The History of Clinton County Iowa" by L. P. Allen (1879) pgs 722-725HANS EHLERS, farmer, Sec. 28; P. O. Lyons; born Dec. 6,1821, in Germany; in 1867 came to Clinton Co.; he owns 306 acres of land. Married Wiepoke Peters in November, 1843; she was born in 1822, in Germany. Had eleven children, seven living-John, Henning, Carson, Peter, Claus, Margaretta and Emma.
