Biographical Sketches of Clinton Residents

CHARLES PIPPING, wholesale and retail dealer in fresh, salted and smoked meats, hams and lard, cor. Second street and Sixth and Sixth avenue, was born in Germany July 23, 1827 ; he emigrated to America in 1852; he came to Illinois, and lived in Aurora and Oswego over nine years; he came to Iowa in 1866 and located in Clinton, since then has been engaged in his present business and has built up a large trade. He married Miss Theresa Riesner, a native of Germany; they I have six children-Frank, Charles, William, Lewis, Matilda, and Lillie; they lost one daughter.
