Biographical Sketches of Clinton Residents

DANIEL H. PEARCE, deceased; was one of the earliest settlers of Clinton Co. ; he was born in Rhode Island, in 1815; he emigrated to Iowa and located in Clinton, in 1838. On the 11th of June, 1845, he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Ferguson, a native of New York; she came to Lyons, Iowa, when only 11 years of age; there are very few who have lived in Clinton Co. as many years as they have, until the -death of Mr. Pearce, which occurred in 1878; he left five children -- Emma I., Wallace H., Albert E., Jasper K., Inez B. ; Mrs. Pearce is still living on the home place in Clinton.
