Biographical Sketches of Clinton ResidentsSENIUS GODSKESEN, of the firm of Ries & Godskesen, dealers in groceries and provisions, corner of Second street and Seventh avenue ; a native of Denmark; came to America in 1859, and lived in Ohio until the war broke out; enlisted in the 1st Ohio Light Artillery; he was in the battles of Shiloh, Murfeesboro, Perryville, Tuhlahoma, and all the Georgia and Atlanta campaigns, and the battle of Nashville; was in the service four years, then returned to Ohio ; afterward visited his home in Denmark; he returned to this country, and came to Clinton Co. in 1868; he was engaged as traveling salesman for six years, and has been engaged in his present business for the past four years. He married Miss Barbara Metzger, a native of Frankfort on the Main, Germany, in 1870; they have four children -- Botilda, Annie, Selma and Otto.
