Biographical Sketches of Clinton ResidentsGEORGE W. EYRE, of the firm of Leake & Eyre, proprietors of the Central Market, Fifth avenue; is a native of England, and emigrated to America in 1858; he lived in Pennsylvania ten years, came to Iowa and located in Clinton, in 1868; he has been associated with Mr. Leake, in his present business, for the past five years, and they have built up a large trade; he was in the army in Pennsylvania when that State was invaded during the war. Mr. Eyre married Miss Maria Stephens, of Schuylkill Co., Penn.; they have one daughter-Mary E. D. Eyre.
