Researching old newspapers re Clayton County men &Gold Rush

I thought I would get some old newspapers on microfiche through the inter library program from the Iowa State Library and see if I can find any articles or comments in the newspapers of 1852 in Clayton Co. There must be something written - if only ads.

Maybe we can collaborate on the renting/reading of the microfiche newspapers? I contacted the librarian and found out how to ask for the right films... But it's time consuming and a bit expensive to do it all alone.

If anyone has searched old newspapers already, it would be helpful to the rest of us to know what has been searched for and the names of papers and dates so that we don't duplicate efforts.

Would those of you who have searched old papers be willing to post what you did search to this bulletin board?
