Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 Jan. 1932. Giard column.

This community was shocked by the sudden death of Miss Minnie Yearous, which occurred Monday noon, Jan. 18, 1932, at the family home in Giard. While Miss Yearous' health had been failing for some time, no one surmised the end was so near.

Miss Yearous was born in Wagner township Oct. 24, 1874, her farther having passed away a short time previous to her birth. The mother purchased a home in Giard, coming here with her family early in 1875, which has since been the family home. At an early age Miss Yearous united with the Giard M.E. church of which she was a faithful and consistent member and an active worker to the time of her death. She was also a member of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society and Woman's Christian Temperans Union.

For a number of years Miss Yearous operated the telephone exchange here for the Standard and Bell companies. Later she had charge of the Farmers' Telephone Exchange until failing health compelled her to give up this work.

She lived quietly in the family home to the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her death one brother, Leonard Yearous, and one sister, Mrs. Aug. T. Bernhard, both of Giard, and four nieces. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death. Miss Yearous will be greatly missed, not alone by her own families but by a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday a.m. at the home and church, conducted by Rev. Warren L. Feller. Rev. J. L. Menzer, a former pastor, also made a few appropriate remarks. Miss Yearous had many friends, as was attested by the large concourse of friends who attended the funeral and the many beautiful floral offerings.

Interment was made in Giard cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved families.
