John Henry Ernest Fred Beucke born May 5, 1839 at Pribbenon, Germany, came to America when 18 years of age and settled in Clayton County, Iowa, where he remained until November of last year, when he moved to Fayette County, living about 5 miles northwest of Oelwein.

In 1863 he was married to Miss Anna Dahling. Nine children were born to them of whom six are now living, four boys and two girls. He died of yellow jaundice April 25th, at 6 p.m. and was laid to rest in Oelwein Cemetery April 28th. His age was 63 years, 11 months and 29 days.
