Altha Koth

Funeral services for Altha Koth were held Saturday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Paul Weber officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Altha Fredericka Koth, daughter of Frank and Mary (Wilker) Lenth, was born January 10, 1893 in Clayton County, Iowa. She died Wednesday, May 11, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She received her education in the Monona Schools.

On January 29, 1913 she married Ross Koth at St. Paul Lutheran church in Monona. The couple had 4 children. They farmed in the Monona and Postville areas.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, who died November 27, 1965, a daughter, Margaret Johanningmeier, one brother, Hubert Lenth; two sisters, Ann Drallmeier, Elsie Knuth, and two grandsons, Robert Green and Robert Kruse.

She is survived by two sons, Harold and Kenneth of Postville, one daughter, Helen Green, Castalia, 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two sisters, Almira Lantzky, Sumner and Rosena Wilker, Guttenberg and a sister-in-law, Elsie Lenth, Monona.

Altha was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and also the Women of the ELCA.

Casket Bearers: Charles Koth, Keith Koth, Burnell Koth, James Kruse, Larry Zweibhomer, Steve Maised, Dale Green, Gerald Schrandt, Leonard Althouse, Luther Johanningmeier, Mark Johanningmeier, Fred Thies, Roger Gibson and Woody Houser.
