Robert Mork

Robert E. Mork, son of Thomas and Molly (Ruroden) Mork, was born February 8, 1905 in Elgin, Iowa. He died May 30, 1995 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. He was 90 years old.

Robert received his education at Vellersven, a rural Clayton County school.

He was married to Lois Althea Biggs on February 13, 1931 in Beloit, Wisconsin by the Rev. Sam Taylor.

Her farmed north of Monona from 1931 to 1960, then moved to a farm east of Monona until moving to Waukon in 1986. Robert farmed for 55 years in the Monona area, raising crops as well as dairy farming in early years, and raising Angus cattle later. He enjoyed all aspects of the farm and continued to keep up with current events. He was a member of Monona Garden City Methodist Church for many years before moving to Waukon and joining St. Paul United Methodist church. He was a member of both Allamakee and Clayton County Farm Bureau. He liked flowers, visiting with people, traveling with his wife and jokes. He had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center since July of 1993.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Selmer, Millard, Millien and E. Otto Mork and sisters, Clara McNally and Anna Mae Landsgard.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Mork of Waukon, a daughter, Joan and Richard Bieber of Waukon, a son, Roger Mork, a brother, Enock Mork of Waukon, three grandchildren, George and Jami Bieber, and Edward and Amy Bieber of Waukon and Cindy Whitehead of Texas.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 2, 1995 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Eick officiating. Casket bearers were Dan Gruber, Tennis Mork, Peter Bieber, Jr., Milton Klima, Robert McNally, George Bieber and Edward Bieber. Honorary casket bearers were Lynn Morrow, Clarence Thomson, Harold Koth, Ed Meyer, Harold Starry, Carl Houg,Sr., and Allan Leas. Arrangement were made by Martin Funeral Home of Waukon. Interment was in the Monona City Cemetery.
