George William Wolter

Services were held Monday, June 21, 1971 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, for George W. Wolter who died at his home in Luana June 19, 1971. Rev. John Mohr conducted the services. The Schutte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

George William Wolter was born March 14, 1908, the son of Henry Wolter and Freida Wilke, in Allamakee County, Iowa. He was baptized on April 26, 1908 at Postville and confirmed March 25, 1923 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana. His education was in the Luana schools. Since 1940 he operated his own trucking business.

On December 15, 1926 he was united in marriage with Agnes Ames. Two children were born to this union: Donovan and Dwain. Mrs. Wolter died in 1952. On June 28, 1970 he married Mrs. Mahalay Steen.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Fred, in infancy, his parents, one sister, Gretchen Schlitter Oldag, and one son, Donovan at the age of 15.

He is survived by his wife, his son Dwain, one brother, Arthur and four grandchildren.

Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Luana.
