Dorothy passed away on Sat., Nov. 18th, 1978, while a resident at the Americana Health Care Center in Dubuque, at the age of 76 years, 1 month, and 4 days.

Emelia Dull, who was born into the family of William & Effie Biggs on Oct. 14, 1902, lived on the Biggs homestead near Volney. Her English and Scotch Irish ancestors came to this area from the Eastern States in the early 1800s to become one of the first families to settle in this area.

She attended elementary school at Hickory Creek, a country school, and her high school was completed at Nashua, Ia., where she lived with her aunt and uncle, John & Cora Biggs Foote.

Returning to Monona, Dorothy was united in marriage on March 3, 1926, to David R. Dull, a childhood friend whose family farm was adjacent to her family's farm. Three children were born to this union.

They farmed north of Monona during their marriage. Following her husband's death in 1946, she continued to farm with her son until renting it to others in the community.

In 1954, Dorothy moved to Dubuque where she was employed as a housemother to student nurses, and she worked at Roshek's Dept. Store for several years prior to her retirement.

Throughout the years, Dorothy continued her Monona ties with many relatives, friends, and associates by making frequent trips to this community.

Pallbearers were: William Moses, Jr., H. Leslie Leas, David Martins, Lloyd Bacon, Russ Martins, E. J. Martins and Ralph Kelly.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother who died in infancy, and her husband, David.

She is survived by three children: Eldon D. Dull, Mishawaka, Indiana; Beverly (Mrs. John) Martins of Dubuque, Iowa; and Mrs. Shannlee Dull of Dubuque, Iowa; two sisters: Carrie (Mrs. Edgar) Ziegler of Monona; and Lois (Mrs. Robert) Mork of McGregor, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
