Cook, Fayette 'Fred' 1890-1950

Fred Cook
Funeral services for Fayette (Fred) A. Cook were held at the Witt Funeral Chapel, Saturday afternoon July 8, 1950. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery.
Mr. Cook died at his farm home three miles northwest of Elkader, Wednesday, July 5, 1950, following a four-year illness. He had been confined to his bed for the past three weeks.
Fayette A. Cook was born in Read Twp. Clayton Co. IA. Oct 28, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Almeron Cook, a pioneer family of Clayton county. He received his education in the school near his home. On Sept 13, 1898 at Giard, he was united in marriage to Miss Bernice Williamson. After their marriage they lived on the farm now tenanted by Charles Cords for five years. They then moved to the farm where Mr. Cook died and there they had lived all but about four years. He had reached the age of 69 years, 8 months and 8 days.
He was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church of Elkader.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Nydegger Jr., Elgin and four grandchildren, Faye Cook and Robert Larson, Elkader, Kent and Carolle Nydegger, Elgin also two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Gladys B. Cook Larson, who died in 1933 and a son Harold A. Cook in the year 1936.
Pallbearers were Dr. C. L. Crider, W.W. Sadewasser, A.A. Shultz, Pear Huggins, Frank Bente, and Herbert Katchkowsky.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funreral were: Herbert Willamson, Winthrop, Minn. Mrs. Very Younkman, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Sabin all of Elkport, Mrs. Ralph Dunn, and daughter, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schrunk, Dubuque, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Ryan, Manchester.
