Fred Merschon
Born July 14, 1873 Died Nov. 10, 1915

Fred Merschon died at his home north of town, between her and North McGregor, Wednesday, after suffering from ill health for some time. Although he had been well, yet the news of his death came as a shock to his many friends here on that dreary, rainy 10th of November, 1915.

He was born at Glenwood, Iowa, July 14, 1873, and spent his early life there. He left home when he was eighteen years of age and entered the show business which he followed during the remainer of his life. His success of his chosen profession may be judged by the fact that he played in the largest cities in the country, including New York and Chicago, and played for two years in stock companies in Council Bluffs, Iowa. With a natural talent in this direction and a love for his work, he was a favorite with the amusement loving public, and brought many a smile to the lips of those weary with the burden and heat of the day.

He came to McGregor fifteen years ago and spent the summer. Here he met, wooed, and married Miss Sauncy Enders. To them were born four children. One little child passed into a better world fourteen years ago, aged twenty-two months.

Then his health began to fail. Last May he came home and since then he has not been able to follow his profession except a short engagement on the floating theatre "Wonderland" this past summer, or something of that order.

He was the middle age one of three brothers. The oldest one and the youngest one have preceded him to the better home.

The funeral service will be conducted from the Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. Peddicord.

The many friends of the bereaved family extend their sympathy to the sorrowing family in this dark hour of their bereavement.

North Iowa Times week of Nov. 10, 1915
