Mrs. J. F. Tuecke Is Laid To Rest Here On Tuesday

Mrs. John F. Tuecke (nee Wilhelmine Nuehring), longtime resident of this community, passed away at her home in Guttenburg on Sunday morning at 6:10 o'clock, at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 19 days. Her health had been failing for some time previous to her death.

Mrs. Tuecke was born in Fahlingen, Hannover, Germany, on February 26, 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nuehring, deceased. When she was eight years old she came to America with her parents, settling on the old Harvey place in Jefferson township, Clayton county, Iowa. In the year 1872 she married at Ceres to Mr. John F. Tuecke, who preceded her in death April 10, 1921. Soon after marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Tuecke settled on (unreadable) in Clayton Township, where they lived until 16 years ago, when they moved to Guttenberg to make their home, and where deceased spent the remainder of her ambitions and true Christian life.

Mrs. Tuecke was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical (unreadable) church and St. John's La (rest of word unreadable) Society, of Guttenburg.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adiz at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in this city on Tuesday afternoon, with interment in the city cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.

She is survived by seven children, namely, Wm. H. Tuecke, Otto A. Tuecke and Mrs. H. B. Schroeder, of Clayton township; Mrs. V. G. Drumb, of Osterdock; Mrs. William Mahowald and John H. Tuecke, of Guttenburg, and Mrs. J. L. Greener, of Chicago, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 sister, Mrs. William Kregel, of Clayton township, and numerous other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this worthy mother.

One daughter, Mrs. Otto Esslinger, also preceded the mother in death on September 28, 1932
