Henry William Schultz

Funeral services were held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana for Henry W. Schultz, 83, who passed away February 15, 1961. The Rev. L. W. Reuther, pastor of St. John's, was in charge of the rites. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery, Luana.

Henry William Schultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schultz, was born April 26, 1877 in Grand Meadow township, Clayton County. He was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville in 1878 and in 1890 was confirmed in the same church.

On March 4, 1908 the deceased was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Splies to which union one daughter was born. After marriage he farmed one year on what is now know as the Courson farm, four and one-half miles west of Luana. The following year he purchased the farm now known as the John Doerring farm where he lived for two years. Due to his wife's illness he sold that farm and built a home in Luana. For 21 years he worked as a carpenter and helped to build many of the homes in the Luana community.

On February 1 he was taken to Postville Hospital where he passed away Wednesday, February 15, 1961, having attained the age of 83 years, 10 months and 20 days.

His wife preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frederick W. Clark of Canaan, Connecticut; one grandson, Edward J. Clark of Hartford, Connecticut; and two great grandsons, Steven William and Robert Edward.
