MRS. JAMES (Betty Loraine Hager) SLAUGHTER

Betty L. Slaughter, 65, of Luana, formerly of McGregor, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1993, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 6, 1993, at First Lutheran Church, Swede Ridge, rural McGregor, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Rev. Ellen Taube officiated.

Betty L. Slaughter was born June 11, 1928, at Waukon, the daughter of Otto and Harriet (Ferris) Hager, She attended school at Frankville and Postville. She married Jim Slaughter June 18, 1945, at Frankville. They lived most of their married life in McGregor.

Survivors include her husband, Jim of Luana; three daughters, Janet Matthews of Prairie du Chien, Evelyn Brye of Des Moines, Tammy Slaughter of McGregor; two sons, Jessie of Folsum, Calif., and Ramond of Bloomington, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; sex great-grandchildren; and one sister Martha [Jelink] Cota of Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Marietta Petsche.
