Funeral services for Lyle Elmer Pape were held Monday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa.Pallbearers were Bob Berns, David Dull, Dennis Soride, Robert Wirkler, Fred Oelberg, Gary McKee, and Kevin McKee.

Lyle Elmer Pape, son of Grant and Martha (Pape) Pape, was born July 22, 1927 at Eldorado, Iowa. He was baptized August 15, 1927 at Eldorado and confirmed in 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He received his education in the Franklin Township School in Allamakee County, Iowa. Lyle was united in marriage to Laila McKee on September 23, 1952 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Lansing, Iowa. He started farming with his parents in 1938 and farmed on the same farmstead for 39 years. Lyle served on the D.H.I.A. Board. He served as church deacon at St. Paul Lutheran Church and served many terms as trustee. Lyle loved hunting mushrooms, gardening and raising raspberries. He enjoyed sharing his good fortune with his friends and family.

Lyle Elmer Pape died Thursday, March 5, 1998 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gaylord Pape and Gerald Pape.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Laila; a son Larry (Sheila) Pape of Luana, Iowa; a granddaughter, Liane Rose Pape; a sister, Henrietta Dull of Postville, Iowa and a brother, Lorenz Pape of Postville, Iowa.

Lyle E. Pape, 70, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, in his home after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Burial: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona.

Survivors include his wife, Laila; a son, Larry of Luana; a sister, Henrietta Dull of Postville; and a brother, Lorenz of Decorah.
