Glen LeRoy Palmer was born July 4, 1912 to David and Tina (Ball) Palmer in Garber, Iowa in Clayton County. He attended rural schools. On April 29, 1935 he married Ethel Carlson in Manchester, Iowa. Glen worked on construction for a time. They farmed in Clayton County until 1959 when they bought a farm near Lynxville, Wisconsin where they lived until moving to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in 1989.

Glen died January 23, 1999 at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Dianne, 2 grandchildren, Myron Horns and Greg Walton; a brother Richard Palmer and a sister, Zala. Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery in McGregor, Iowa.

Glen is survived by his wife, Ethel; 12 children: Barbara (Irving) Horns of Decorah, Iowa, Roger (LaVonne) Palmer of Brandon, Iowa, Glenita Palmer of Galesville, Wisconsin, Gary (Dixie) Palmer of Monona, Iowa, Allyn (Ann) Palmer of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, Ronald (Karen) Palmer of Postville, Iowa, Darryl Palmer of Waterville, Iowa, Keith Palmer of Brandon, Iowa, Wendy (Alan) Grimme of Eldridge, Iowa, Curtis (Jean) Palmer and Donald (Marilyn) Palmer of Eastman, Wisconsin, and Linda (Gerry) Stark of Anaheim, California; 38 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters: Ivanelle (Palmer) Powell of Fullerton, California, Delphus (Carmen) Palmer of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Vivian (Lee) Culbertson of Edgewood, Iowa, Helen Hoth of Rogers, Arkansas, Etta (Verl) Wilson of Manchester, Iowa, and Kenneth (Joyce) Palmer of Lakeland, Florida.
