Funeral services for Charlotte Ann Tammel, age 63, of Clayton, Iowa were held Thursday, May 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff, Minnesota with Pastor Becky Timm-Welch officiating. Burial was in Immanuel Cemetery in Wykoff, Minnesota. Thauwald Funeral Home-Wykoff was in charge of arrangements.

Charlotte Ann was born on February 8, 1945 in Wykoff, Minnesota to William and Lottie (Raabe) Schmidt. Charlotte grew up on the farm near Fountain, Minnesota and attended Wykoff Schools. Following high school, she raised her family and worked as a bookkeeper, cable television manager, and served as an administrative assistant to the Secretary of State and Iowa State House of Representatives.

Charlotte was a life-long learner and earned advanced degrees in education and administration graduating Magna Cum Laude from Buena Vista University, Iowa State University and University of Northern Iowa. Charlotte touched many lives. For many years, as a teacher and coach, she shared her enthusiasm for helping others grow all across Iowa (Galva, Dallas Center-Grimes, Sgt. Bluff-Luton, Hudson). In addition, for 18 years, she guided teachers and students as an elementary and middle school principal (Clarence-Lowden/North Cedar, Jesup, and Postville) Charlotte retired from Postville Community Schools in June 2007, and continued to share her gifts as a substitute teacher.

Charlotte lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, family, and friends. Charlotte also enjoyed watching movies, golf, reading, organizing, learning new things, working on her computer, and serving her church and community. She was an active member and council vice-president at Peace Lutheran Church in Clayton, Iowa.

Charlotte Ann Tammel passed away Sunday May 25, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota from complications associated with a stroke. She was 63 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Marvin Schmidt.

Charlotte is survived by her two daughters, Julie (John) Tammel-Swander of Cloquet, Minnesota, and Christianne (Jim) Bixby of St. Peter, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, Aaron Swander, Lena Swander, Killian Bixby, Andra Bixby, and Adrianna Bixby; 2 sisters, Marjorie Baier of Chatfield, Minnesota and Bernice (Paul) Stender of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; a brother, Ray (Betty) Schmidt of Fountain, Minnesota; sister-in-law Colleen Schmidt of Rochester, Minnesota; 6 nephews and 7 nieces; her former husband, David Tammel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and her fiance', Darryl Noble of Clayton, Iowa.
