Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. May 27 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, Iowa for James Louis Tuecke who died on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. On Friday, May 19, Jim was working in his garage, when he was accidentally struck in the head by some falling boards in storage from above him. He was taken to the hospital at Guttenberg, Iowa and then airlifted to LaCrosse.

James was born on September 8, 1940 to Orville and Christine (Thiese) Tuecke in Dubuque, Iowa. He was baptized on October 22, 1940. He graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1958, farmed, and was a self-employed semi-truck driver for many years, making cross country runs out west. On September 15, 1962, he was united in marriage with Bonnie Lee at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Jim enjoyed mushroom hunting, deer hunting, cutting wood, driving tractor, and his semi. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, and very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jim liked all the conversations he had with with his trucking colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David John Tuecke.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; one daughter, Sara (Brian) Lawrence of Garnavillo, Iowa and one son, Joe (Liz) Tuecke of Elkader, Iowa; one sister, Carole Tuecke of Titonka, Iowa; grandchildren, Cora Lawrence, Colton Lawrence, and Baby Lawrence on the way, Anna Tuecke, Levi Tuecke, and Luke Tuecke, in addition to many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
