Raymond William Doerring

Raymond William Doerring, 76, Luana, Iowa, died Friday, January 21, 2011, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Raymond was born on December 12, 1934, in Luana, Iowa, to John and Helen (Miller) Doerring. He graduated from Luana High School in 1952.

Raymond was united in marriage to Grace Kennon on June 29, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Oelwein, Iowa. One daughter was born to this union. Raymond farmed his entire life. He was employed at John Deere in Monona, Iowa. He was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church. He sang in church choir and neighboring church cantatas. He was a member of Keystone Chorus in Elkader and Waukon Barbershop for many years. He enjoyed driving Chevrolet cars and pickups and farming with John Deere equipment.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Doerring, Luana; one daughter, LaRae (Brian) Schutte, Luana; three grandchildren, Hanna RaeJean Schutte, Jacqueline Gale Schutte, John August Schutte; one brother, Robert (Marva) Doerring, Newton and four sisters, Joanne (Milt) Kramer, Manchester, Edythe (Rev. Paul) Scheidt, St. Louis, MO, Nancy Beguin, Onalaska, WI and Sally (Larry) Williams, Waverly.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith Doerring.

Memorials may be given to: Pennies for Peace by Greg Mortenson, Luana Fire Department and Property Committee of St. John and St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. The Rev. Steve Brackett will officiate.

Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Luana, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011, from 2-5 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
