Funeral services for Reynold E. Busse, age 67, were held Friday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa with Rev. Dean Hess officiating. The committal with military rites was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Strawberry Point, Iowa Cemetery. the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly was in charge of arrangements.

Reynold suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday evening, February 3, 1987 and died shortly after his arrival at the Waverly Municipal Hospital. Reynold was born September 14, 1919 in Lamont, Iowa, the son of Gustav and Hattie (Wolf) Busse. He was baptized in the family home and was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, Iowa. He graduated from the Lamont High School in 1936 and then farmed with his father on the family farm near Lamont, Iowa. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Army Air Force. After his discharge, he attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Agricultural Economics in 1950.

On September 12, 1951 he was united in marriage to Elsie Gresens in Duluth, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Strawberry Point, Iowa where Reynold joined Alfred Osterman in a farm management business which he purchased sole ownership of in 1960. He worked in the Farm Loan Department of the Citizen State Bank in Postville, Iowa. He and his wife moved to Postville in 1982. Following his retirement in 1985, they moved to Waverly, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie; 3 daughters, Mrs. Kurt (Kay) Meyer of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Mrs. Randy (Dana) Hullerman of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Janet C. Busse of Des Moines, Iowa; 3 grandchildren and 1 sister, Geraldine Busse of Iowa City, Iowa.
