OBITUARY
Olive Jane Waite, daughter of George W. and Louisa Waite, was born May 2, 1856 at Clifton Park, Saratoga County, New York, and came to Iowa the same year.
The family settled at County Corners and with the seven children faced the conditions common to pioneers in a new country.
On January 11, 1880 she was united in marriage with Benjamin S. Cole, and lived on the farm four and one-half miles northwest of Strawberry Point, until 1895, when they moved to town where the remainder of her life was spent. Mr. Cole preceded her to the Better Land on March 6, 1902. There was born to them one child, Ollie.
The deceased joined the Methodist Episcopal Church on April 15, 1900, and has lived a consistent Christian life, being deeply religious and very loyal to her church.
There are to follow her: her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Cole of Strawberry Point, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Benson and Mrs. Ophelia Sargent, both of Strawberry Point, Iowa; one brother, Livingston Waite of Lamont, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
A faithful wife and mother, a good neighbor, a Christian woman has been taken to her reward, and her many acts of kindness will be remembered by her numerous friends.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church at Strawberry Point, Iowa on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, the Rev. G. W. Turner officiating. Two sacred songs were sung, “Face to Face, “ sung by a quartette composed of Mesdames Talcott and Turner, and Messrs Turner and Gill, and “Jesus Lover of My Soul,” was sung by Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Turner. Six nephews of Mrs. Olive Cole acted as pall-bearers; Leon Sargent, Ralph Sargent, Lennie Sargent, Emery Sargent, Don Colton and Elwin Sargent.
Interment was made at the Strawberry Point Cemetery.__________________
