Eberling, Eli Louis 1904-1988

Funeral services for Eli Louis Eberling were held Wednesday, January 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Eli Louis Eberling, son of William and Emma Harnack Eberling, was born January 28, 1904 in Clayton County. He died January 3, 1988.

He was baptized on June 5, 1904 and confirmed on September 8, 1918 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He attended the Grand Meadow School in Clayton County.

January 14, 1932 he married Esther Minnie Heins. The couple had two children. They farmed in Clayton County on the Eberling farm until they moved to Postville in 1965.

Eli and Esther celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1982. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Elmer and Walter and 3 sisters, Lucy Kamp, Lora Nuehring and Alice Eberling and one granddaughter, Dana Eberling.

Surviving are his wife, Esther, one daughter, Kathleen and her husband, Rodney Olesen, of Sumner, one son, Loren Lee Eberling and his wife, Sandra, of Postville, IA, two grandchildren, Martin Lee Eberling and Kaaren Rae Olesen.

Casket bearers were Martin Lee Eberling, Joseph Reierson, Dean Heins, Eugene Neuhring, Robert Eberling and Leonard Heins.
