Loftsgard, Bernard W. Jr. 1955-2000

Bernard was born November 10, 1955 at Postville, Iowa, to Bernard and Catherine (Boland) Loftsgard. He was raised and educated in the Elgin area, attending the CEW School District. After his education, Bernard remained on his home farm where he farmed with his dad. He also farmed with the Roger Wettleson family.

Bernard died at his home Saturday, July 1, 2000. He was 44 years of age. Bernard will be remembered as one who enjoyed hunting, watching football, and walking in the timber with his dog.

Survivors include his parents Bernard and Catherine Loftsgard of Elgin; two brothers, Jerry (Bev) Loftsgard of Elgin, and Larry (Paula) Loftsgard of Davenport, Iowa; one sister, Marilyn (Milton) Schutte of Postville; one niece, Chantel (Troy) Johnson of Lakeville, Minnesota; five nephews, Jarrod and Joshua Loftsgard of Elgin, Iowa, Rhett Loftsgard of Davenport, Iowa, Ryan (Rachel) Schutte of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Wade Schutte of Postville; and one great nephew, Kelby Johnson.

Bernard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Phil and Ruey Boland, and paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Bessie Loftsgard.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 3, 2000 at Leonard Funeral Home in Elgin, Iowa, with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating. Interment was at Marion Lutheran Cemetery in Gunder, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Greg Wettleson, Jeff Wettleson, Ryan Schutte, Wade Schutte, Jarrod Loftsgard, and Josh Loftsgard.
