Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2009 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colesburg, Iowa, for Patricia Sue Steil who died Thursday, October 29, 2009. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Colesburg. Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Edgewood, assisted the family.

Patricia Sue “Hazel” Steil, 57, of Colesburg, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Pat’s strong belief in angels are her saving grace and it was those same angels that took her with them to heaven. She was born on March 5, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Eunice (Koeneke) Diers. She lived her whole life in Colesburg, graduating from the Edgewood-Colesburg Community School in 1970.

Patricia was united in marriage to David Steil on September 23, 1972, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colesburg. She was a CNA at the Dyersville Hospital and was also a daycare provider to many children for many years. Those children considered Pat to be their second Mom.

Survivors include her husband, David Steil of Colesburg; her three children, David Steil and his special friend, Melissa Galle of Dubuque, Amy Kephart and her husband John of Garnavillo, and Douglas Steil and his wife Ami of Earlville; her mother, Eunice Diers of Colesburg; ten grandchildren, Gabrielle, Bradin, and Elisabeth Steil, Rachael, Samantha, Crystal, Kirisa, and Anthony Kephart, and Wyatt and Levi Steil; two sisters, Paula Holland and her husband Thomas of Mentor, Ohio, and Suzie Hamilton and her husband John of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and special family friend, Sister Marilyn Schlosser.

Pat was preceded in death by her father, Paul A. Diers.

Special thanks go to the nursing staff and Mercy Hospital where Pat was a patient for many years. Their care made Pat’s days more comfortable.
