Ruth Mable Reierson Kirkeberg was born on a farm east of Elgin in Clayton county, the daughter of Reier and Maren Reierson, on April 30, 1895. She passed away at her home in Postville, August 21, 1962, at the age of 67 years, three months and 21 days.

She was received into the Christian Church through holy baptism on April 30, 1895. She became a confirmed member of Marion Lutheran Church on May 22, 1910. For many years she was choir director and organist in the Marion congregation. She also was an active member of the Dorcas and Ladies Aid until her health no longer permitted her to do so. While living in the Elgin vicinity, she was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Kirkeberg received her education in the Clayton county schools. On September 18, 1920, she was united in marriage to Clarence Kirkeberg of rural Elgin. To this union were born two children; Carlyle and Eleanor Mae, who died in infancy.

The greater part of her life was spent on the farm until moving to Postville in 1953. In 1954, Mrs. Kirkeberg suffered a slight stroke and her health had been failing continuously since that time. Through her years of ill health she was cared for by her husband, Clarence and a neighbor, Mrs. Enoch T. Mork.

Left to mourn her death are her husband, Clarence of Postville; her son, Carlyle of Monona and wife, Inez, and children, Rickey, Renee and Scott; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wold of Waterloo; two brothers, Louie and Cornelius Reierson of Elgin.

Funeral services were held at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder on August 24 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Henry J. Methre was the officiating clergyman. Burial was in the Marion cemetery.
