Phyllis Oline Olson

Phyllis Olson died Monday, Feb. 11 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville where she had been a resident since November, 1989.

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona. Pastor Elwin Farwell officiated. Organist Florence Evans accompanied soloist Mary Zittergruen. Burial was in Mount Grove Cemetery, Evansville, MN. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of services.

Phyllis Online Smemoe Olson was born July 14, 1911 in Baltic, SD. Her parents were Jens and Ragna Vollen Smemoe. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed November 15, 1925 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church near Baltic. She received her education in Baltic School.

On September 22, 1948 she married G. Walfir Olson in Minneapolis, MN. The couple had one daughter. Phyllis lived most of her adult life in Minneapolis. She moved to Monona in the spring of 1988.

She was a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Walfir, who died November 16, 1984; and one brother, Justin.

Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Patrick Malanaphy of Monona, 3 grandchildren, Shane, Sarah and Tiffany Malanaphy; and 2 sisters, Julie Wickre, Sioux Falls, SD and Rena Moen, Laurens, IA.
