Millard E. Olson

Millard Elmer Olson, son of Ole and Margaret Baumeister Olson, was born July 22, 1899 on a farm in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died December 29, 1976 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 7 days.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Norway Lutheran Church near St. Olaf, Iowa, where he was a life-time member. On October 26, 1918 he was united in marriage to Valdine Wettleson. To this union two children were born.

They farmed in Wagner Township until they retired and moved to Clermont in 1962.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arthur S. Olson; two sisters: Maude (Mrs. Phillip Walter) and Oliva (Mrs. Elliot Olson).

He is survived by his wife, a son Clifton L. Olson, Clermont, Iowa; a daughter Mrs. Edwin (Margie) O'Brien, St. Olaf, Iowa; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter and four sisters: Mrs. Lillie Trudo, Luana, Iowa; Mrs. Richard (Bertha) Bigler, Elkader, Iowa; Mrs. Oscar (Nellie) Torkelson, Farmersburg, Iowa; and Mrs. Mary Engelhardt, Lima Springs, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, on Saturday, Jan. 1, 1977, at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Norway Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Robert Henriksen and Rev. Clarence Johnson were the officiating clergymen.

Pallbearers were Aines Olso, Dennis O'Brien, Terry O'Brien, Don Steffins, Richard Olson, Steve O'Brien, Jeff O'Brien and Quinton Clark.
