Warren Gustav Peterson

Warren Gustav Peterson, 69, of Garnavillo, IA, died Friday, January 16, 2004, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, Guttenberg, following a long illness.

He was born August 10, 1934, in Wheaton, MN to Walford and Agnes (Thompson) Peterson. He grew up and attended school in New Effington, SD.

He was united in marriage to Eileen Fette on May 4, 1957, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf. Seven children were born to this union. They moved to Iowa in 1965, and lived in various locations throughout their married life together. Warren worked for Swiss Valley Farms for twenty-one years, retiring in 1994. They have lived in Garnavillo for the past four years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Eileen Peterson, Garnavillo; his children and their families, Gordon Peterson, Farmersburg, David (Dawn) Peterson, Gunder, Wendy (Kevin) Peterson, Gunder, Scott (Penny) Peterson, Farmersburg, Brenda (Jeff) Pfister, Gunder, Gary Peterson, Hopkinton and Cheryl (Dennis) Wilson, Delhi; fifteen grandchildren and a brother, Robert (Verna) Peterson, Brooklyn Center, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, IA, with Rev. Marshall Hahn. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Honorary Bearers were: Karson and Adam Peterson, Jamie Tielbar, Wade Wilson and Logan Pfister.

Casket Bearers were: Steve Fette, Rick Muller, Jim Peterson, Dennis Wilson, Kevin Peterson and Jeff Pfister.

Leonard Funeral Home of Elkader was in charge of arrangements.
