Fern Ellen Moser

Fern Ellen (Patrick) Moser, the daughter of Leslie William and Bertha Desse (Hyde) Patrick, was born March 8, 1929, in Clayton County near Garber, Iowa. She died Sunday morning, June 8, 1997 in the Elkader Care Center at Elkader, Iowa. She had reached the age of 68 years and 3 months.

She was graduated from the Guttenberg High School in 1947. Fern also attended classes throughout her life in order to become a nurses aid and a medication aid.

On March 7, 1953 she was united in marriage with Charles William Moser at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Iowa. To this union a son and a daughter were born. The couple lived in Guttenberg following their marriage. In 1955 they moved to Garnavillo and lived near Postville from 1960 to the present time.

Fern sold Avon products for a time and then became a nurses aid, a job which lasted for 25 years. She took various classes to keep up her certificate. In 1992 Fern retired from her job at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lynn August Patrick.

Surviving are her husband, Charles, a son William Earl Moser and wife, Sandra Elena Casarez Moser of Laredo, TX; a daughter Jane Ellen (Moser) Creager and husband, Bryce Alan Creager of Mt. Pleasant, IA; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Michael Patrick Moser and wife, Shanna Kathleen White Moser, Crystal Christine Moser, Joseph William Moser, Adam Christopher Creager and Nicholas Ryan Creager, and a brother, Gene Leslie Patrick and wife, Vera Wilma Minger Patrick.

Fern was a member of the Gunder Community Club. Fern trusted in the Lord on November 29, 1962, through I Peter 3:18. Services were held at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa on Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. with Larry Landsgard singing "The Old Rugged Cross". Organist was Corrine Landsgard. Casket bearers were Matthew, Alan, Richard and Mike Moser and Peter Keune and Robert Hyde. Honorary Casket bearers were Adam and Nicholas Creager and Crystal and Joseph Moser. Interment was at the St. Paula Cemetery, Guttenberg, Iowa. Schutte Funeral Home of Postville in charge of arrangements.
