Joseph Jens Erickson

Funeral services for Joe Erickson were held Monday, March 22, 1993, 11:00 a.m. at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Beth, Ben, Bree, Stephenanie, Andrea, Jason, Paul and Kayci. Pallbearers were Jim Hager, Richard Sandry, Ernie Lubahn, Donald Blong, Scott Rumph, and Jack Staudacker. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.

Joseph Jens Erickson, son of Jens and Lillian Edna Sandry Erickson, was born May 17, 1922 at Waukon, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Waukon, and attended Waukon Jr. College. Joe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Joe was united in marriage to Mary Anita Blong on October 25, 1947 at Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church, Lawler, Iowa. He had farmed for 16 years and was a Monona businessman for 10 years. He retired in 1973. Joe had lived 30 years in Monona and previously resided in Rossville and Waukon. Joe enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and his family.

Joe died Wednesday, March 17, 1993 at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; three children, Paul (Donna) Erickson of Clermont, Iowa, Susan (Terry) Oleson of Monona, Iowa, and Francis (Tracey) Erickson of Gilbert, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Beth, Ben, Bree, Stephanie, Andrea, Jason, Paul, and Kayci; and a host of other relatives and friends.
