Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 24, 2008 at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Aug. 25, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, Iowa.
Interment: August 25, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Clayton Center, Iowa.

Lawrence Clare Fox, 61, of Clayton Center, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on March 20, 1947, in Oelwein, Iowa to LuRoy and Ethel (Lane) Fox. He graduated from MFL High School.

He was united in marriage to Dawn Walter on January 8, 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union.

Lawrence worked for Clayton County/Secondary Roads for thirty five years until his retirement. He loved his family and enjoyed coyote hunting, spending lots of time at the George Maier Museum in Elkader, NASCAR and old cars.

Lawrence served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Lawrence served as President of the Pioneer Cemetery, Vice President of the GMRHS Board, President of Scenic Acres Board, VA Board, member and co-treasurer of the Zion Council, Northeast IA Vietnam Veterans, Adjutant of the America Legion Post #388 and served on the Clayton County Fair Board.

Survivors include his wife Dawn of Clayton Center; two daughters, Becci Fox of St. Olaf, Iowa and Beth (Joe) Collins of McGregor; one grandson, Kurt Gordon of St. Olaf; one granddaughter, Ashley Gordon of St. Olaf; his mother, Ethel Fox of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; three sisters, Carmen Fox of Garnavillo, Diane (Bryce Neverman) Fox of Springdale, Arizona, Marcia Fox of Cave Springs, Arkansas; two brothers, Ned Fox of Gray, Tennessee and Bart (Natalie) Fox of Bonita, California.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his father; brother, Mark Fox; paternal and maternal grandparents.
