Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, IowaMinnie Clara Caroline Topel Klima was born June 15, 1897 in Allamakee County, Iowa, to Charles and Mathilde Schlitter Topel. She received her education at the Sixteen and Figgie schools, and May 25, 1921 married Joseph J. Klima at the Pilgrim Evangelical parsonage in Monona. They farmed east of Monona on Pleasant Ridge.
She was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Evangelical United Brethren Church, later a part of Garden City United Methodist Church, and WWI Auxiliary.
Minnie died Wednesday, July 10, 1991 at Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are a son, Milton of rural McGregor; two grand-daughters, Mrs. Richard (Candice) Felland of Waterloo and Mrs. Juan (Cathy) Smith of West Des Moines; three great-grandchildren, and a brother, Elmer Topel of Monona.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Jan. 12, 1970, and six brothers, Charles, Clarence, Herman, Albert, George and Theodore.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at the Garden City UMC in Monona with the Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was in Monona City Cemetery with Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Wilburt Topel, Howard Klima, Robert Tyler, Joe Kroach, Les Kadlec and Richard Moses.
Honorary bearers were Eldo Johanningmeier, Robert Mork, Harlan Hass, Don Geraghty, Edmund Kadlec and Frank Sanger.
