EDNA E. OLSON

Funeral services were held for Edna E. Olson at 11:00 a.m. on May 1, 2004 at the Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, Iowa with interment at the Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf, Iowa.

Edna E. Olson, 95, of the Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa, formerly of Elkader, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at the Great River Care Center, McGregor.

She was born January 15, 1909, in Elgin, Iowa to Adolph and Lydia (Christen) Hanson. She was united in marriage to Ira R. Olson on April 5, 1933, in Elgin, Iowa. One child, a daughter LaVonda, was born to this union.

Edna and her husband farmed until his death. In March of 1977, she moved to Elkader and continued to live there until a hip injury made her move into the Great River Care Center in McGregor in February, 1995. She loved the farm, her dogs, fishing on the Mississippi River and family gatherings. Edna had a wonderful sense of humor and loved playing tricks on people. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Edna is survived by her grandchildren, Laura (Steve) Plumley, Greg (Dolly Erickson) Kohnen, Doug (Diane) Kohnen and Karen Kohnen, all of Dubuque, Terrence (Heather Anderson) Kohnen of Dunlap, Illinois; son-in-law, Richard Kohnen of Dubuque; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Hanson, of Elkader, Aldoph Hanson, Jr. of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Marge Patton, of Evansville, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ira on January 10, 1976; her daughter, LaVonda M. Kohnen on December 4, 2003; two brothers, Leo and Aden Hanson and two sisters, Lucille Berse and Lola Elvers.
