Funeral services were held for Patricia Rae Anderson at 10:30 a.m. on April 22, 2004 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elkader, Iowa with interment in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Elkader.

Patricia Rae Andersen, 61, of Elkader, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, following a long illness. She was born on December 12, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to Raymond and Theresa (Mader) Chartrand. She grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois, where she graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic Schools.

She was united in marriage to Bob Andersen on August 18, 1971, in Addison, Illinois. Pat and her husband Bob, published three small newspapers in Central Nebraska, and ran the Elkader Theater. She was an accomplished Ballet dancer in her youth and was a successful writer and editor, writing for numerous newspapers in Illinois and Nebraska. Pat enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, an occasional trip to the Miss Marquette and visiting with people. She attended Kearney State College while in Nebraska, and a special hobby was collecting angels.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Andersen of Elkader; her children, Chris Andersen of Newton, Rob (Sue) Andersen of Guttenberg and Julie (Jeff) Schmidt of Elkader; six grandchildren, Raiann, Krissandra, Andrew, Megan, Molly and Lexi; a sister, Joan Leyden of Elmhurst, IL; brother-in-law, Jim Radcliff of Childersburg, AL; many nieces, nephews and friends. Her parents and a sister, Barb Radcliff, preceded her in death.

Leonard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
