Colesburg, Iowa -- Richard Harvey Bush, 71, of Colesburg, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center following a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Services Guttenberg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born the son of Harvey and Emma (Palmer) Bush on April 5, 1936, in Guttenberg. Richard was united in marriage to Louise Jones on April 9, 1966, at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester. Four children were born to this union.

Following graduation from Colesburg High School, he owned and drove a red '52 Ford dump truck for one year. He then served two years in the Marine Corp. after which he worked for John Deere of Dubuque until retiring in 1989, after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he drove a school bus for the Dubuque Drum and Bugle Corps. and subbed for Ed-Co school.

Rich enjoyed golfing, boating, motorcycles, driving a semi with his son, David, and really loved softball, playing until he was 40 years old. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Louise; children and grandchildren, Doug (Leanne) Bush, of Manchester, Darcy Bush, of Colesburg, Dena (Steve), Isabell, Madalynn and Aden Kruse, of Petersburg, David (Angi), Josh, and Jackson, of Fort Dodge; three sisters, Joan Goedken, Colesburg, Louise (Linus) Amling, of Colesburg, Suzanne (Ken) Knutson, of Rock Falls, Ill.; two brothers, Roger (Lavonne) Bush, of Colesburg, Fred (Sonya) Bush, of Colesburg; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, MaryLou, in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Don Buchheim and Robert Goedken.
