Funeral services for J. Charles Ziegler were held Monday, July 5, 2004, in the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Monona. The Reverend Dennis Gilbert officiated. The organist was Priscilla Miene. Casket Bearers were: Larry Lamborn, Steve Mueller, Dwain Wolter, Ralph Bacon, Ewald Walch, Robert Keehner. Burial was in the Luana City Cemetery at Luana. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Jason Charles Ziegler was born December 1, 1912, to George Ziegler and Dorothea M. Maack, in Grand Meadow Township, near Luana, Iowa. He passed away Friday, July 2, 2004 in Thornton Manor at Lansing, Iowa. He had reached the age of 91 years and 7 months.

He graduated from the Luana High School. Charles farmed on the family farm. He was married to Ione Mary Lamborn on August 23, 1937 in the United Methodist (Brick) Church in Monona by the Reverend George Turner. The couple farmed north of Luana near Hardin from 1937 to 1980. They moved to their home in Luana in February of 1980. Charles became a resident of Thornton manor in 1999.

Charles loved to work with livestock, especially poultry. He was a collector of antiques and he enjoyed working with flowers as well, often ordering bulbs, planting them, and sharing them with friends and neighbors. He was an avid reader and shared that, too, by placing books in the library for children to read. Charles liked to ride to town and visit with his friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ione, who died March 17, 1990, an infant daughter, Darla, who died June 15, 1940, two brothers, George and Weber, and a sister, Marjorie Donery, and brothers-in-law, Donald Lamborn and Henry Mueller, Sr.

Surviving is a sister, Margaret Mueller, (twin sister to Marjorie), of Monona, and a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Noraline) Lamborn, also of Monona, and several nieces and nephews.
