Larson, Stella Geneva (Kjosa) 1914-2007

Stella Geneva Larson, 93, died Thursday, November 8, 2007, at the Elkader Care Center, following a long struggle with congestive heart failure.

Stella was born in Marion Township to Thov Jr. and Gurine (Houg) Kjosa on September 10, 1914.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. Stella received her education in Elgin, graduating with the class of 1933.

Stella was united in marriage on July 2, 1934, to Glenn E. Larson at Galena, IL. Five sons were born to this union. Their lives were spent farming while raising a family and taking care of aging parents.

Stella was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a very caring and nurturing person. She was a member of Highland Lutheran Church, Elgin, ELCA, and very active in church activities. She will be sadly missed by many.

She is survived by three sons, Ronnie (Shirley) Larson of Marion, Gerald (Alma) Larson of St. Charles, MO, and Al Dwaine (Nancy) Larson of Johnston; two daughters-in-law, Sara Larson Schneider, Williamston, MI and Pat Larson, Elburn, IL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; two sons, Donald and David; one grandson, Bart; two sisters, Grace Anderson and Lena Bergan; and three brothers, Lewis Kjosa, Kenneth Kjosa, and Joseph Kjosa.

Services were held at Highland Lutheran Church, Elgin, on November 12 with Rev. Jerome Godson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Honorary casket bearers were Bill Brown, Harry Erickson, Neal Krieg, Sylvan Torkelson, and Mervin Larson. Casket bearers were Stella's grandsons.

Eleanor Krieg served as organist, playing "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "How Great Thou Art."
