Helen L. Hoffman, 93, Guttenberg, formerly of Elkport, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007, at the Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, from natural causes. She was born November 1, 1914, rural Elkport, Volga Township, the daughter of Frederick and Nettie (McEvers) Amling. Helen received her education at the Elkport School.

On October 16, 1931, she married Wilbert A. Hoffman at Guttenberg. They farmed for many years. Helen enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and reading.

Helen will be remembered by her daughter, Shirley Lewin of Edgewood; two sons, Dale (Darlene) Hoffman of Guttenberg, and Bert (Joanne) Hoffman of Colesburg; many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbert, on November 16, 1979, two sisters; eleven brothers; one son-in-law, Bud Lewin and one grandson, Steve Hoffman.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Leonard Funeral Home, Edgewood. Interim Pastor Mike Jackson officiated with music by Chris Jackson. Burial was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Garber, IA.

Casket Bearers included Dan Hoffman, Tim Hoffman, Brad Lewin, Scott Lewin, Mike Hoffman and Jamie Hirsch.
