Geraldine "Gerry" Johnson

Geraldine Mae "Gerry" Johnson, 77, of Monona died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Prairie Maison Care Center, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a brief illness.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. The Rev. Bruce Hanson will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Monona City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 4 from 4-8 p.m. at the Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, and from 10 a.m. until service time at the church Friday.

Gerry was born June 29, 1930 in rural Monona to Wyman and Charlotte (Kurdelmeier) Whittle. She graduated from Monona High School.

Gerry was united in marriage to Alvin Johnson November 10, 1948. Three children were born to this union. Gerry worked at Monona Wire and also Northern Engraving for many years until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed fishing, needle work, puzzles, reading, gardening and flowers. Gerry also loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her two children, Charlene Bacon of Monona and Brad Johnson of Fort Valley, VA; eight grandchildren, Christine (Brian) Schramel of Guttenberg, Aimee Bacon of Mason City, Amber (David) Johnson of Strasburg, VA, Aron Johnson of Portland, OR, Jesse Mochoruk of Strasburg, VA, Eric Johnson of Portland, OR, Caroline Johnson of Toms Brook, VA and Nicole Johnson of Toms Brook, VA; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Bruce (Carol) Whittle of Waterloo and one sister-in-law, Alice Schlitter of Bagley, WI.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Johnson; and one brother, Wesley Whittle.

Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory of Monona is in charge of arrangements.
