Harold Lenth

Funeral services for Harold Lenth were held Thursday, October 18, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church at Farmersburg, Iowa, with the Reverend Bruce Hanson officiating. The Casket Bearers were Jared Lenth, Joshua Lenth, Jerome Lenth, Richard Huckstadt, Ron Foels, and Neal VanHorn.

Harold Wilbert Lenth, son of Gustav and Anna (Martins) Lenth, was born October 7, 1916 on a farm in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He passed away Sunday morning, October 14, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa at the age of 91 years and 7 days

He was baptized on November 30, 1916 at St John Lutheran Church in Luana and was confirmed on June 30, 1929 at St John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. He attended the "Gooding" rural school at near Farmersburg.

On January 4, 1940 he was united in marriage with Helen Landt at the Lutheran parsonage in Monona, IA. To this union two children were born. Harold and Helen farmed in Wagner Township their entire life until retiring in 1975 when they moved to McGregor. In 1980 they moved to Monona and Harold became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Postville on July 5, 2005.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Gayle, two brothers and their wives, Harvey and Ruth Lenth and Lloyd and Ferne Lenth, two brothers-in-law, Gerhardt Landgrebe and Robert Foels.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Postville, a son Jim and his wife Carol of Farmersburg, two grandsons, Jared and Joshua Lenth, a sister, Bernita and her husband George Voelker of Miller, South Dakota. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Leona Foels of Postville.

Harold was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Farmersburg where he served on the church council.
