At North McGregor, Iowa, February 3, 1892 at 5:30 p. m. , MRS. ELIZABETH SCROGUM, mother of our esteemed townsman, J. H. Scrogum, pased away.
Deceased was born in Franklin County, Tennessee, near the city of Nashville, on the first day of June, 1812. Her age was therefore 79 years, 7 months and 22 days.
Her family belonged to the early pioneer stock of South and West, her father being in the Seminole war and at the battle of New Orleans, under Gen. Jackson, the year of he birth, and he was also in the Black Hawk war.
The deceased was MISS ELIZABETH HEREFORD, and in the year 1828 in Callaway County, Mo., she was married to Jesse J. Selby, by whom she had six children, four sons and two daughters. In 1838 she was left a Widow, and in 1840, in the same county, she married William Scrogum, by whom she had six children, three sons and three daughters.
